Stuck in the house

Tired of being bored?
No worries – I’ve got you covered!
I’ve made you a list of over 275 activities in 24 different categories.
You never have to be bored again.

COVID-19 & cancer

During the corona measures (words are so powerful, so I refuse to call it a crisis) most of us spend more time by ourselves than we are used to. Being in this lockdown is in many ways similar to life during cancer treatment. Therefore, I’m very familiar with every day feeling the same. You end up doing the same things to pass time, binge-watch yet another series, scroll through your social media feed yet another time. This is why I decided to share this list with you.

Be creative

I wrote this list when I was in treatment, so you might find that some of the activities aren’t perfect given the current COVID-19 circumstances. It goes without saying, you shouldn’t host a party in your living room at the moment.

However, instead of thinking:

“I can’t do this now”

I challenge you to ask yourself:

“How can I do this now?”

One of my friends had a romantic dinner planned with her husband and when restaurants closed because of COVID-19 precautions they decided to ‘play restaurant’ in their own house. They ordered lovely food, put candles and a chilled bottle of wine on the table, dressed up nicely and played soft music in the background. Phones aside and focus on each other. It was a better experience than going out.

Usually, I meet my support group once a month in person. We now check in with each other online, which makes it so much easier for everybody to be present. Because of that, for the first time in a while, the whole group was able to get together to catch up.

Focus on your circle of influence

By focusing on what you can do, instead of what you can’t do, life is much easier and more fun. When you know who you are, when you are aware of your circle of control and circle of influence, you can let go of things not meant for you with ease and grace. Finally spend your time on what matters most to you, on what you decide to give your energy to. Use this imposed me-time to figure all of that out. This can be tough to do, but I’m here to help.

In this list, you will find suggestions to slow down, get out of your head and into your body, connect with yourself and others, have childlike fun.

Most of all, I hope you use this list as inspiration to come up with activities that suit YOU!
